Folk in the Gladstone Region know how to have fun, with an impressive calendar of special events through out the year. It's a great idea to coincide your visit to the Gladstone Region with the event you're most interested in! Highlights of the annual programme include: The Sunrise Longboard Classic at Agnes Water in March, a major longboard surfing competition. The Gladstone Harbour Festival, held every year in the lead up to and during Easter, is a celebration of the sea, with the Gladstone Marina as the striking backdrop for a fun fair, entertainment and fireworks. The 1770 Commemorative Festival includes a re-enactment of the first landing of Captain James Cook in Queensland on 24 May 1770, as well as a street parade, market day and live entertainment. Check out the Mt Larcom Show in June. A country agricultural show spanning two days, there's entertainment, animal shows, markets, wood chipping, competitions and a championship dog show.
